The first known inhabitants in Mississippi were the Chicksaw,Choctaw, and the Natchez. Hernando De Soto was the one who discovered the Mississippi state, but Sieur de La Salle was the one who claimed the land first in 1682. Pierre Le Moyne, sieur d'lberville built Fort de Maurepas on Biloxi Bay—the first permanent white settlement. During Mississippi's territorial years, a consequential and quarrelsome affair happened from 1798 to 1817. Since the Europeans have control of the state, they had made Mississippi be part of the United States. Once there was a flood of migration in the state for twenty years, they had started a war at the state. Now, these events still remain significant today.
